Winter is here.
Being teased since the very first episode of the show, the Winter finally reached the kingdom in the last episode of season 7 of the most discussed show ever: Game of Thrones. But with Winter, the season 8 is officially going to be the last season of the show. And here we are with every exclusive detail we know.
Winter is expensive!
The final installment in the show is costing HBO a lot with season 8 of GOT is the most expensive season ever. Variety mentioned that the “$15 million-plus price tag is due in part to a shooting schedule that more resembles that of a feature film than an episodic series.” Though this won’t matter much to HBO with Game Of Thrones already gifting the company with a huge market of Merchandise and streaming rights to continue the profit for them for long years. Since the show is now a brand in itself, it actually deserved all the amount it is getting in the next season.
Winter isn’t the end
No one wants to let the golden egg laying hen go away and same goes for the HBO and Game Of Thrones Franchise, which for the first time is planning to go beyond the main TV series with major spin-off series on the table. Actually, there are five in production right now. So the GOT fans have a lot to look forward to long after the main show is over. Also, the first spin-off series may debut as early as 2019 so there’s a lot to look out for.
Here’s what George R.R. Martin, the original creator of Game Of Thrones said about the situation: “You should not expect to see all five shows, though, at least not immediately.. much as I might love the idea, HBO is not about to become the GAME OF THRONES network… but we could possibly see two or even three make it to the pilot stage, with one series emerging on-air in 2019 or 2020… and the others maybe later, if they come out as well as we all hope.”
Warning! Potential SPOILERS below for Game of Thrones Season 8!
The last season of the show will be handed by Sapochnik, David Nutter, and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss themselves. All cast members whose characters survive the events of Season 7 are expected to return for Season 8. The major exception is Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand), who confirmed her role has ended. Other than the major returning characters to continue the story, there will several new faces.
The Plot + The Finale
The previous episodes of the show were approximately an hour long. Though this time, if you’re a fan you will be spending a little more of your time with GOT. Season 8 is seeking each installment running for 80 minutes or more, according to the show’s sound designer, Paula Fairfield. And with the history of major leaks in the past, this season going with extra protection for the show’s finale with multiple endings of the show being planned. As reported by the president of HBO, “I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens,” Bloys said. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”
